Location
The picture was taken outside, on the porch, with indirect natural daylight.Time
Midday. The shadow from the porch roof allowed me great, soft light.Lighting
I was looking for soft and gentle light to bring the delicate qualities of this dish to the forefront.Equipment
This was taken with my Pentax K10, the lens probably my Tamron 90 mm macro and tripod.Inspiration
I was at a photography meetup where a chef offered her food to those who wanted to photograph it. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this dish afterwards! :-)Editing
None other than the regular global adjustments of light, contrast and color. In my camera bag
Since this was taken a couple of years ago, I have upgraded to a Pentax K1, a 36MP full frame body. I use mainly prime lenses, my Pentax 50mm and Tamron 90 mm macro follow me everywhere. For interiors I use my Pentax 15-30 and for sports and action I use my Sigma 70-300. Other equipment that I haul around regularly include reflector, tripod, gray card and light meter....Feedback
Search for a place with indirect but directional light, find a background that doesn't detract from the subject and think about the composition. For this, I grabbed the wooden plate piece from the wood pile nearby, and the background is a blackboard that I found lying around on the farm where we were shooting. Look around you and use whatever you can to make your images more creative!
