Location
This was taken inside Yosemite National Park near Glen Aulin campsite which is a 6 mile hike from the parking at Tuolumne Meadows High Sierra Camp. Every year we would hike the high sierra camps and finally decided that Glen Aulin was our favorite because it was at the base of a waterfall. This is the Tuolumne River. This was taken before we had a torrential rain fall that caused the river to rage and the water to turn brown. I have photos on view bug of the waterfall after the rain where everything was brown. The campsite was almost flooded and we thought that the trail bridge would be washed away but the rain stopped and everything was fine.Time
This was taken on the hike along the Toulumne River near our camp. It was after lunch and it was a beautiful slightly cloudy day. All of a sudden a storm came in and we made it to the mess hall to wait out the storm.Lighting
With the scenery along the river it is hard to get a bad photo. Most of the area is granite and there are rapids and small falls as the river descends. It was somewhat cloudy when this was taken.Equipment
This was taken with my first digital camera which I used for 10 years. It was a Fujifilm Finepix 4700 zoom. As a beginner I used the auto mode ISO 200.setting. That's all I used. I got another Fujifilm F300EXR when I had to replace the first camera. They are compact and take wonderful photos.Inspiration
The area is so beautiful and I love the river. It is so relaxing to sit and watch. We went to the same area many years and always loved the river.Editing
This photo required no post-processing. Usually I take a photo into photoshop to enhance the lighting and color, but this was not even cropped. In my camera bag
I still use either my Fujifilm F300EXR or my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28. I love the simplicity and versatility of both.Feedback
I think that Yosemite Park in California is the most beautiful place that I have been. It is breath-taking every time I go there. There are so many wonderful opportunities for photos of granite domes. In the viewbug photos I have a morning photo where the lighting caused the dome to appear yellow. The evening lighting causes wonderful colors too. Toulumne Meadows high sierra campsite is a great place to stay in tent cabins, but hiking a few miles and camping give the best views of the area. Waterwheel falls is two miles downstream from the photo location. Many of my viewbug photos were taken in Yosemite.
