Location
This photo was taken from an apartment rooftop in downtown Memphis, TennesseeTime
This moment was captured about an hour after sunset.Lighting
No special lighting was used besides Mother Nature. I was capturing 10 second long-exposures.Equipment
This was captured with a Nikon D7100 and Nikkor 24-120mm, using a wireless remote and tripod.Inspiration
This photo is very special to me. I had planned on doing a sunset photo shoot with the model but my truck broke down on the expressway while heading to the shoot. Fortunately the model was understanding and patient enough to wait for me to meet up with her. I ended up being an hour late. Maybe 30-45 minutes after our photo shoot started, the lightning storm began. I tend to look at that as God's gift to us for staying positive and continuing with the photo shoot despite everything.Editing
Lightroom 5.1 was used for post-processing. Nothing in the photo was taken away or added. In my camera bag
These days I normally have a Nikon D810, a Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens, a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens, a wireless remote control, and a tripod.Feedback
Mother Nature can be tricky sometimes. If you have patience and a positive attitude, a lot of potential blessings will come your way. When you're in that moment, you have to make the best of it. I captured several photos with the model and lightning from that night that I love.
