I took this photo on Fourth of July in my backyard during a family and friend barbecue. I am an amateur photographer and I was practicing my skills with children.Time
This image was taken before the sunset at 6:20 pm. I love children and when my family had a summer barbecue, I was beyond excited to hangout with all the kids and families that we knew from our church. I remember on that day I was determined to practice my child portraits. I had looked at tips and tricks the night before and was ready to test out my skills.Lighting
I had no control over the light source. The sun was still high in the sky and I decided that the subject was best in the shade.Equipment
I only used my Nikon D3300 with the 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
i just recently have been getting into child photography. I have been working hard to improve my skills and practiced whenever I could. I was just getting into the Fourth of July festivity toward the middle of the party when I was playing with the kids. I loved how the children could play with the simplest of things and let their imagination run free. I caught a moment of one of the kids blowing bubbles, and I absolutely loved how natural he is.Editing
For this particular picture, I used a double exposure with a picture of an American flag to give it a more festive feel.In my camera bag
I normally carry around an extra battery for my camera, a memory chip, my 18-55mm lens and my Nikon D300 in my camera bag.Feedback
With child photography, I feel that it is better to get lower to the level of the subject to give the pictures more of the child's viewpoint. I think that when shooting late in the afternoon or evening, that when the subject is in the shade, expressions on their face will be more natural and relaxed.
