I took this photo at home in Oxnard, CA, USA. I like to buy live flowering plants rather than cut flowers, and this yellow tulip bud was not even showing when I bought it. I had it on the kitchen window.Time
I took this around mid-morning, when the light from the window was still soft and indirect.Lighting
I have blinds on the kitchen window that I turn to control light. I usually keep flowering plants in that spot, so I can admire them all the time. The morning winter light comes thru my window and always get me inspire to capture it.Equipment
I used a Canon Rebel T1i (yes I know, its a very old model), with a 18-55mm lens, and a tri-pod. I used a black kitchen towel for the black background.Inspiration
The lines created by the light hitting the edge of the leaves and of course the flower itself.Editing
Yes, I did! I made black and white to highlight the contrast of the flower and the leaves, I also increased the contrast a little more. I cropped it to focus only on the parts I wanted to.In my camera bag
Photography is a hobby for me. I usually only carry my iPhone. When I go hiking I usually carry my DSLR Rebel T1i camera with the 55-250mm lens. I had bad experiences changing lenses, so I don't carry any other lenses to avoid getting dust in my camera.Feedback
Focus on capturing the "light".
