Location
This image was taken on a trip to Australias island state Tasmania. Years of activism and a strong environmental culture has ensured places like Liffey falls and its entombing ancient Gondwana rainforests remain untouched by the hand of man.Time
It was about mid afternoon and slightly overcast to escape the brutal sunlight that beams through the canopy hereLighting
I had to wait about 15 minutes with this composition in frame until the sun crept behind a cloud and provided the beautiful even lighting hereEquipment
I used the canon 6D with the canon 16-35 2.8 lens along with my manfrotto tripos and a 6 stop + 0.9 soft grad lee filtersInspiration
This was a place I have wanted to visit for a long time and wanted to do it justice, I spent a lot of time here away from the camera too just taking in the serenity of this stunning place.Editing
I shot in raw so tweaked a little bit here and in Lightroom with highlight, clarity and colour but it's almost as is out of the cameraIn my camera bag
I guess that depends where I'm going but the essentials are always the canon 6D, a couple of lenses, filters and tripod. I usually have a survival kit with me which has come in handy traipsing through the Australian wilderness.Feedback
Plan for the lighting, there nothing worse than getting big blowout highlights in your waterfall shots! Filters are always a big help allowing the slower shutter speeds and some artistic creativity. Also I would add to just get more creative with your compositions!
