The light is magic, the sea does not even look liquid, and the subject surprisingly is smiling. You really caught THE moment! Congrats, this photo is just beautiful :)

Location
I took this photo at Ometepe, Nicaragua. Ometepe is an Island that has two huge volcanos and lies in Nicaragua's biggest sweet water lake. The girl in the photo couldn't swim, so it was pretty courageous.Time
This was in the afternoon obviously, just before the mosquitos come out. The low sun made the water look like liquid metal almost.Lighting
The photo is darker than the situation in real life was. Reason for this is that I wanted a fast shutter so I could freeze the water drops and the ripples.Equipment
Pentax K5 camera with a 21mm 3.1 prime lens... and swimming trunksInspiration
The girl in the photo, my girlfriend at the time, couldn't swim but I was sort of teaching her. So the photo was meant to be testimony to that fact for our friends back home.Editing
I added vignetting, contrast and clarity to really give the metalic look of the water an extra pop.In my camera bag
this photo was taken two years ago almost, so since then things have changed. Nowadays I mostly do studio work. But when I travel I would bring my new pentax K1 with either a few primes (31mm, 77mm (I'm looking to buy a good wide prime)) or my 24-70 2.8. Who knows, I might throw a small flash in there. But I were to shoot professionally, I would take my profoto B2 location set for sure.Feedback
To me perspective is one of the two most important things, the other one being as close as you can get. In this case it made me stand in water up to my chest with rather big waves washing over me.
