I recently gave up doing newborn photography and have been looking for a new direction - an opportunity arose to work with this child model Cerys who has a wealth of experience even at a young age - I've always fancied shooting steampunk and this is my favourite from the session

i used 2 lights 1 coming from a small softbox on camera left and one gridded strip box behind the subject camera rightEquipment
Shot on a Canon 5d mk2 with a 70-200 2.8 attached - two flash heads as described aboveInspiration
I've always liked steampunk and the opportunity came up to shoot this young girl who has done a lot of modelling before, she's very versatile and when I mentioned it to her mother she was crazy for itEditing
I always shoot Raw to give me maximum control over post - I do minor tweaking in Raw then edit in Photoshop adjusting various aspects and also using an action I've purchasedIn my camera bag
I keep all my equipment in 2 bags - a ruck sack and a heavy duty case - the case has 2 X 7d2 - 24-70 - 70-200 and 300mm - the rucksack has the 5d2 in with other accessories including a MacBook Pro spare batteries and other random stuffFeedback
Don't be afraid to get out there and do it - this was my first attempt at a fine art styled session and I'm so glad I went for it - it's easier to use models that have experience as they require less direction allowing you to concentrate on lighting and technical aspects!! Always research what you are shooting before - mood boards are good
