Location
This is a shot of the choir area of Notre Dame.Time
Taken at about 8 pm in early July.Lighting
The interior is quite dark. There are some lights on throughout the interior but they are quite dim. Most of the light in this area comes from the larger stained glass window directly opposite the choir and the windows at the far end of the choir.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 6D with a Canon 17-40mm F4 at 17mm. ISO 2500.Shutter speed 1/30th. No flashes and tripods are allowed.Inspiration
The architecture detail throughout Notre Dame is amazing. There were lots of other tourists wandering around that night so photographing anything below eye level was very difficult. The choir area is one of the few places where people can't walk freely through and were you can take an unobstructed wide shot from ground level.Editing
All adjustments were made in Lightroom. I boosted the overall exposure and applied as much noise reduction as I dared to. Selective exposure was applied to increase the lights across the ceiling, the woodwork over the chairs, and the columns in front. Exposure on the windows was reduced to bring back the details in the stained glass. In my camera bag
For touring around I take my Canon 6D, 24-70mm F4, 17-40mm F4, ND filters, remote shutter release and a light weight tripod.Feedback
Notre Dame faces west. Time your visit to when the sun hits the main window in the evening to get as much light as possible. Would have loved to have had a faster lens as well so the ISO could be reduced.
