Location
It was taken in a Montreal metro station, part of a project to transform Montreal's public spaces by creating murals that are rooted in local communities. It was the last photos of a busy '' photos'' day in the old port of Montreal. I was so tired, I almost decided to pass by without taking the picture !Time
It was around four in the afternoon but for this photo it didn't matter, it was taken below ground, in a tunnel to the metro station.Lighting
It was almost completely artificial lighting but I was lucky that a bit of sunlight was coming from the windows at the top of the stairs nearby, so I didn't have to boost my ISO too much. My biggest difficulty was the amount of people passing in front of the wall, it was a busy time of the day !Equipment
I used my Canon 7D with my basic lens 18-55 mm. No tripod, no flash, I almost didn't stop so I just opened my bag and took what was available first !Inspiration
The originality of this project. I passed a lot of time in that tunnel when I was young and the walls were just plain gray. Seeing the colors just made me realized that it didn't take much to enlighten it. I'm really happy that I convinced my tired partner of the day to stop and wait again after me for an another photo ( ''the last one, I promise '' )Editing
Just simple ones. I use a basic software so for this photo I just boosted the colors a little bit and enlighten it because the cement is so dark.In my camera bag
I'm an amateur who just changed her old Rebel Xsi for the not so new Canon 7D, and kept the lenses I had: my regular 18-55 mm lens, my 55-250mm f/4-5.6 tele lens and sometimes I bring my 50 mm f\1.8 with me. My tripod just died (lost an important piece) so I'll have to get a new one really soon ! Really basic material !Feedback
If you feel that you have to stop and take THAT photo, do it !
