Studio ShotTime
Since the shot was taken inside a studio the time of the day does not matters here.Lighting
I used two basic softbox lights. One from the right side of the model and the other from the front. At first I was experimenting with flash triggering but later I thought to drop out that option and I took this shot with just the 2 softbox lights on.Equipment
Camera used is Nikon D3000 with a basic kit lens of 18-55mm. I do not go for tripod unless needed and no flash guns are used in this shot.Inspiration
The models look and his preparation for the shot was nice.Editing
I simply converted this shot to black and white, did some shadow and highlight adjustments. In my camera bag
I usually carry a soft towel to clean my camera and lens, a water bottle and sometimes an extra lens. If needed then I carry my flash gun.Feedback
I do not have any specific advice for these kind of shots but I do want to say that understanding light and its intensity is very helpful. Experimenting with light - angle, ambiance, reflection, intensity and distance is a good habit for these kind of shots. A photographer is always ready with his camera but a model is always posing. It is very important to relax the model with cheerful conversations. It helps both the photographer and the model to bring out the best. Sometimes casual mood shots also makes a difference.
