Behind The Lens
Location
I was walking around my friends yard in Arlington, Washington when I noticed this large leaf in transition of breaking down.Time
I found this during the twilight hours just after sunset.Lighting
I played with angles and lighting by taking several pictures in different positions until the beauty I saw was captured and encapsulated through my lens.Equipment
I used my Fuji Finepix S 14 mega pixels camera. It has a Super EBC Fujinion Lens with a 24x Zoom.Inspiration
At first, I was intrigued because I had never seen the skeleton of a leaf with almost nothing left except the veins. I was inspired by the unique, intricate beauty within the framework of this leaf and knew I had to take its picture to share with my family, friends and ViewBug community.Editing
Yes, I wanted to enhance the delicate features within the framework of this leaf to allow the allure of its natural beauty to shine forth. I utilized a few filters and effects with online apps until the picture reached the visual perfection that I envisioned. In my camera bag
In my camera case I keep spare batteries, a lens clothe, pens and a small notebook to notate any details or thoughts about the pictures I have taken.Feedback
My advice is to be observant, and thoroughly explore whatever environment you are in. Some of my pictures are taken in places such as my back yard, a grocery store, waiting rooms or even a potted plant outside a business or friends house. Photography is more than a hobby for me. I am disabled with limited mobility. Photography allows me moments of escape and freedom from the daily pain, depression and struggles that I am challenged by each day. The joy I feel while, in pursuit and capturing the perfect shot lifts my spirit and keeps me going. One final tidbit, do not be intimidated by all the technicalities. I am not a technical person. I like to play with angles, lighting, positioning and draw upon my Why Not attitude to explore new ideas. My equipment is simple but the joy is tremendous.
