Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken just outside of town, by New Castle, Colorado.

Time

I was driving around, looking for photo opportunities on a foggy, fall morning. This was taken during the morning of November 20th, 2013.

Lighting

The morning sun and fog combined made for some unique lighting.

Equipment

I took this with my old Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 camera.

Inspiration

As I was driving around town, looking for photo opportunities in the morning fog, this apple tree caught my eye. I knew I had found my shot for the morning. I spent some time creating the composition and depth I wanted for the photo and started shooting!

Editing

I did a little cropping of this photo, but no other post processing.

In my camera bag

When I shot this photo, I always carried my Panasonic Lumix camera with me everywhere I went. I have upgraded now and carry a Canon EOS Rebel SL3 with me everywhere I go. I carry an extra battery, an extra SD card, a lens hood to block the direct sun, a lens cleaning cloth, and a hat for myself to block the sun's glare. I have a tripod with me if I am in the car, and on some walks and hikes.

Feedback

I have found that conditions for fog and good lighting happen in the early mornings around my area. Take the time to look at things from several different angles until you find the right one for your photo! The best advise I can give, at this point, is to stop what you are doing and take those shots that jump out at you! If something catches your eye, go capture it with your camera!
