Location
In the Tuscan skies over Siena, Italy!Time
It was the early dawn hours on an extremely foggy day.Lighting
The sun was peeking between the clouds as we rose thru the fog. At times we had near zero visibility, but broke thru the fog at about 1500 ft!Equipment
Canon 5D Mark II with Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.Inspiration
Simply flying over Siena in a hot-air balloon and being able to photograph (4) family members in an adjacent hot-air balloon as we rose above the fog was impossible to resist! On this morning, I chartered (3) hot-air balloons to surprise my family of (12) vacationing in Italy for (3) weeks, and it was a first for (6) of them. Playing hopscotch as we flew thru the Tuscan skies was a memorable event not to be forgotten!Editing
Shooting raw, I always use Lightroom to process my photos. In my camera bag
Camera bodies: Canon 5D Mark III & Canon 5Ds; Lens: Canon EF8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, Canon EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM & Canon EF85mm f/1.8 USM; Extender: Canon EF 1.4X III: Memory Cards: (4) 64Gb CF cards, (4) 64Gb Micro cards, (3) 32Gb CF cards & few others.Feedback
Charter a good hot-air balloon pilot on a foggy morning. Take as many shots as you can because the changing light conditions make it difficult to adjust quickly. As I always say " Deletions are easy, retakes are difficult!"
