Location
This photo was taken in a hallway in the New York Public LibraryTime
MiddayLighting
It was fairly close to midday so the lighting was pretty nice and somewhat even.Equipment
Taken with a Nikon D300s and my favorite wide angle lens (Sigma 10-20mm). This was a 5 exposure HDR photo, edited in Lightroom.Inspiration
I love lines and symmetry. The hallway (and building in general) was just beautiful and the lighting was perfect for the mood I wanted. I knew I would want to edit this as a black and white so I focused more on the lighting and composition.Editing
Processed the HDR with Lightroom and Nik HDR Efex Pro 2.In my camera bag
My go-to is the Nikon D300s with the 10-20mm wide angle. When I'm running around without the large camera, I generally use my Iphone 5s.Feedback
Patience! The library was busy and I knew it would take a little bit to actually get a photo without a lot of people in the background. Taking an HDR required 5 shots but I also had to quickly take those and jump out of the way. There was no time to fumble with a tripod or re-take photos so envisioning the shot and knowing what I wanted to capture was key!
