Location
This photo was taken in Clinton, New Jersey at the Red Mill Museum Village. It was during a Civil War re-enactment.Time
The time of day was late afternoon and it was overcast and actually light rain was falling off and on during the day.Lighting
The sky was overcast and I had no extra lighting to work with, no external flash was used.Equipment
At the time my camera was a Canon 40D and the lens I had on my camera was a Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS.Inspiration
I love taking photos of people and at the time my favorite place to hang out was at historical re-enactments which the Red Mill hosted a few times a year.Editing
I converted this image to black and white in Photoshop and also added a sepia tone to it. I then added a few textures to add some depth. I also did some dodging and burning here and there. In my camera bag
Now I carry a Canon 5D Mark II, a Canon 50mm f/4, a Canon 100mm L f/2.8 IS, and a Canon 85mm f/1.8Feedback
I like using a longer lens at these events just because you don't have to be really close to capture a nice portrait. I prefer to stay back a bit and zoom in.
