Location
This picture was taken at a funky coffee shop in New Orleans called Sacred Grinds. This was the tip cup at the register.Time
I stopped in for coffee before heading off to a photo shoot at the New Orleans botanical gardens. I ended up having coffee, breakfast and spending a couple of hours taking photos of the shop and the cemetery next to the shop.Lighting
The photo was taken under indoor lighting with no additional lighting.Equipment
I used a Canon T2i. F3.5 shutter was 1/30 and the iso was set at 640.Inspiration
I enjoy post processing and I knew this cup would stand out after I finished with it. The shop was a coffee shop, voodoo shop, organic foods shop. So eclectic I couldn't stop clicking the camera.Editing
The cup was next to the register and I needed to remove the background and give it a background that helped the cup stand out. I also used some filters to give the cup a spookier feel.In my camera bag
I keep a very simple bag. I have my camera. A Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L a Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3. A cleaning cloth, a couple of extra memory cards and a tripod.Feedback
I find that some of the most mundane items can really stand out after post processing. I use Photoshop, Perfect Effect 8, Topaz Labs Simplify and occasionally Snap Art 3. I layer filters, I almost always jump up the brightness and saturation.
