Location
At Longleat Safari park , They show various birds twice a day for about half an hour at a time, It could be either owls, Eagles, Vultures, Kites, They let them exercise flying quite close and over the crowds heads.Time
It could of been 1pm or 3pm, in the afternoon.Lighting
I always get a seat at the front with the sun behind me, I do not use flash.Equipment
Canon 5D Mk 2. No tripod. A 400 mm lens.Inspiration
I do enjoy taking all kinds of wildlife, I have a season ticket for Longleat.Editing
I do in PS and Lightroom. But not with this picture, As it was OK as it was. But I have worked on it since and removed the blue bits to enter it in my club competition as the are very picky. Some judges like a blur in the wings to show movement. This particular one did not and I got 8 out of 10.In my camera bag
The Canon Mark5 with the 400mm lens, and a Canon 450D with a 180mm Macro lens as at Longleat they also have a butterfly house.Feedback
Get to know where they are going to land, manually set your focus to the spot. Check your background to try and keep it bland, And fire as many shots as you can. For this shot I used F 7.1- 1/400 Sec- ISO100_ Focal length 400mm- Metering= Pattern.
