Location
I took this image in an area near Fontana, California.Time
It was mid-day, sun overhead. Fill flash used.Lighting
I use fill-flash off camera with triggers to help light the underside of the riders. In this harsh light you can stop down the light then fill in with flash to get the exposure you want instead of just washed out.Equipment
Canon 7D, 10-22 wide angle.Inspiration
I love shooting the mtn. bike racing. It's fast-moving action and full of bright colors too, and you're outdoors...everything I like!Editing
I do PP in Lightroom. I typically apply a light HDR plugin, which I like on this image. In my camera bag
7D, 7DMII, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, 10-22mm, f/4, flash, triggers, cards....Feedback
Get low. The lower the better in most cases... or high :) I always try to get a different perspective than you typically see. From up high, or down low, panning as they go by... there are 10 togs at each event or more...so always trying to get something different than everyone else.
