This is an awesome photo! It is definitely a butterfly in the Subfamily Coliadinae, but without knowing the location or having a clear view of the wings makes it difficult to identify it to species (but I'm sure you have additional photos that would make it possible). Butterflies have clubbed antennae, whereas most moths do not (eye color is not a good distinguishing characteristic). Maybe a Cloudless Sulphur, but check some guides or bugguide.net.

Brilliant! It is actually quite hard to get the sharpness of the eyes when taking photos of insects.

That is amazing how you see his eyes. They even have colour, thought they where black guess not. Really like good job.
