Location
I shot this photo in Ohio at a cemetery where my grandparents are both buried. The day started out normally but the weather was changing and the lighting changed drastically and fortunately I had my Nikon with me.Time
It was mid morning, just before a storm was to hit.Lighting
It was totally weird lighting, pretty typical for a pre-storm morning in Ohio.Equipment
I used one of my Nikon D-90’s with an 18-105 f/3.5 lens. Not sure exactly what the specific’s were on the lens, but most likely it was about 70 and f8.Inspiration
I’ve been taking photo’s for over 50 years and am always scanning the environment for something unique to try and capture (on film, back in the day) digitally.Editing
Yes, I did tweet it a bit, added a little shadow and softness and a bit of highlight to bring out the details. In my camera bag
When I started I used Canon AE-1’s but later switched to Nikon when Canon started making their DSLR’s out of plastic. Presently I’m still using Nikon but have recently bought a Sony A7 and an assortment of lenses and am enjoying the learning process and thus far getting pretty good results.Feedback
Develop your “artistic eye”... Try and look at things not just as they are but as you might make them with some cropping, post editing etc. Learn how to compose your subjects with balance and then tweak all the variables that need it. Also, first and foremost, “learn your camera” and what it will do, all the bells and whistles. It will pay great dividends and shorten your photography learning curve.
