Location
The photo was taken near Woodland, Washington. About an hour north of Portland, Oregon on I-5, and another 1/2 up the road from Woodland. This is the Old Gristmill, just off the road paralleling the Lewis River. The picture was taken from the old covered bridge. Another great photo op. Continue up the road to some other spectacular waterfalls on the Lewis River.Time
The photo was shot in the morning.Lighting
The trip was taken with early morning cloud cover in mind. I have taken shots from this area before with stronger lighting, but wanted much softer lighting for this kind of a shot. Taken at 35mm, 3 second/f22.Equipment
Nikon d800, Nikon 16-35mm, tripod.Inspiration
One of my mothers favorite spots. She passed away 2 years earlier.Editing
Used Lightroom to make some moderate modifications to certain areas of the photo. In my camera bag
Nikon D810, D800, 16-35 4.0 Nikon, 24-70 2.8 Tamron, 70-200 2.8 Nikon. Polarizing filters, Variable adjustable neutral density filter, Manfrotto aluminum and graphite tripods and heads.Feedback
Take your time to set up the photo. Pick the right time and weather conditions to get the right light. Foggy days are also offer a great feel.
