Taken near sunset (4:50 PM) on Jan 21, 2023Lighting
These two birds were flying about 45 degrees into the sunset.Equipment
Hand-held 1/2000th S, F.8.0, ISO 2500, @ 500 mm; Nikon D850 w/PF500 lens - Distant photo, heavily cropped (761 x 507)Inspiration
There is a 15 minute window this time of year near sunset where the birds we watch landing are well illuminated by the sunset light. This photos was one of many taken trying to capture that special sunset glow. A group of us go to this location annually and this was first time to see a few birds isolated from large flock.Editing
Ran this through the new Lightroom de-noise feature. - Used vignette control to light birds more than rest of frameIn my camera bag
10 x 42 mm binoculars, this camera and lens, audio recording equipment to capture bird sounds.Feedback
Practice at sunset where birds fly such as at California west coast beaches, or even from piers.
