Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was created in my downtown studio space.

Time

This was late afternoon, however we were indoors so the time of day had no effect on the photo.

Lighting

We used two Alien Bee strobes. The key light was covered with a blue gel. The red was created by putting a red gel on and firing the light at a black poster board used for the backdrop.

Z6 Nikon camera 2 B800 Alien Bee Strobes 2 gels from Amazon Godox light triggers

Inspiration

This photo was inspired by Lindsey Adler and her amazing lighting design.

Editing

I edited the colors of this image slightly in Lightroom and I edited the models skin in photoshop using frequency separation technique.

Feedback

Play with the light distance to the subject and experiment with different ways to diffuse the light. Also the “gels” we used were Cellophane gift wraps from Amazon so trying some different household items as light modifiers sometimes can give surprising results.
