Location
This photo was taken in an outback New South Wales Opal mining town called Lightning Ridge. The town area is littered with old wrecks and mining equipment - remnants of a time gone by.Time
I had been on a self drive car tour around the town looking at the rough landscape when I came across this old truck. It would have been late morning, getting close to lunchtime, so the sky was bright - full sunlight.Lighting
It was a bright and sunny day - not necessarily the best time to shoot photos, but I was there so took the shot. I was pretty happy with the basic shot straight up but knew I may need to do some editing to get it better.Equipment
I used my Canon 750D camera with a Canon 18-55 kit lens.Inspiration
Well it was an interesting old truck just sitting there rusting away. It served as a reminder of the toughness of the area and the people who worked out there in the extreme heat and dust. I have a penchant for old rusty items.Editing
Yes I did use post processing via ON1 Effects enabling an interesting effect in the sky. I also added some vignette. In my camera bag
Generally I travel pretty light and on this occasion I had my Canon 750D and a couple of standard lenses - Canon 18-55, Canon 55-250 zoom, Canon 50mm 1.8.I have Promaster 58mm CPL and a Hoya ProND ND8 filters in my kit. A small portacle tripod, and some cleaning materials. Also a spare battery.Feedback
It is very unique landscape in this remote area. There are lots of interesting subjects to photograph so I would say just take as many pictures as you can. Have an idea of what you want to capture in the subject. Look at your subject from different angles and be mindful of composition. Shoot a few pics from different perspectives and you will have more options for a great shot when processing.
