Behind The Lens

Location

San Diego Harbor. San Diego, CA, USA.

Time

There had been a few very calm, non-windy mornings in San Diego. So, I wanted to find some shots of the harbor. This extremely calm morning really called for a long exposure to further accentuate the calmness.

Lighting

Morning light helped to add to the peacefulness and simplicity of the harbor setting.

Equipment

Nikon D610 and a Nikon 20mm primes lens. On a tripod for the long exposure.

Inspiration

As above, I wanted to capture the calmness and serenity of the water and the harbor. And the reflections really added a nice dimension to the image.

Editing

Very basic processing, converted to black and white, and intended to bring out a minimalistic feel.

In my camera bag

Nikon D610. 20mm, 50mm, and a 70-300 zoom lenses. Usually a couple of filters primarily for long exposure work.

Feedback

Simple and not so simple. Good timing and opportunity. You have to be out shooting under varied conditions, at various times of the day, and over time you have the good chance of capturing something nice.
