Morant's Curve in Banff National Park, CanadaTime
First I practiced the even before with a couple of trains to get my camera settings and timing, then waiting till early morning to get the shot of wanted. This image was taken at 4:50 am, about a hour before sunrise. Is a 30 second exposure at F16, 23mm, ISO 100. Then without moving the camera another image was taken just before sunrise, about 45 minutes later, for 4 seconds.Lighting
This is of a train going thru this famous curve in the early hours of the morning.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark 4, Canon 16-35mm at 23mm and Velbon TripodInspiration
I wanted to get a train going thru this curve at night so I could get the light trail of it's head light thru the curve.Editing
Yes, the image with the light trail was taken when still night and the second image was taken just before sunrise and then the two images were blended together in Photoshop so I could get the light trail, train body and scenery all in one image. In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mark IV, 16-35mm F2.8, 24-105mm F4, 24mm Tilt Shift, 70-200mm F2.8 and a variety of ND & Grad filters.Feedback
Plan ahead and don't give up, it took me several attempts to get this image and lots of waiting between shots, some of the train schedules were hours apart.
