Location
This image was captured in my small home studio in Arizona. I am a self taught photographer and enjoy pushing my creativity to capture uniquely beautiful images.Time
This was one of my favorite images of this particular shoot. It was later in the day so that I had enough time to prep the area...Lighting
I wanted a classic window light but had to be sure that the flour was lit as well... I shot with a 5’ octa camera right In front of the model and a beauty dish camera right but behind the model. This illuminated the scene dramatically.Equipment
I used my Nikon D750 with a 24-120 Nikor lens Hand held, 2 neewer strobes with a 5’ octa and 23” silver beauty dish with diffusion.Inspiration
I was inspired by canvas paintings originally and as I kept researching I found some images by Alexander Yakovlev That just spoke to me and felt I had to do this shoot!Editing
I originally shot in color as most of my work has intense color but just fell I love with the black and white... I also enhanced the spray of the flour. In my camera bag
I keep it simple... of course my camera body D750 and at least 2 lenses depending on the shoot but most times I have my sigma 85mm 1.4 that creates the most amazing portraits. I always have an extra battery fully charged 2 extra SD cards and a lens cloth... basic but just what I need!Feedback
My advise would be if you are shooting indoors to be sure you put tarps up you can buy these chap at Home Depot I used a black plastic painting tarp for the backdrop and had clear painting plastic tarps surrounding the area the flour as it is being thrown is very fine and will get into all kinds of things and this will also make for easy clean up! Also remember to Backlight...
