Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Lake Vermilion in Minnesota. It is in Northern Minnesota. This image was taken early July of 2019.

Time

I had woken up pretty early to catch the sunrise. It was about 4 when I woke up. As soon as the sun rose, I took tons of pictures. This picture happened at about 5am.

Lighting

The lighting in the photo is all the sunrise had to offer. It was surprisingly bright and calm. Which is what draws me into this photo.

Equipment

It was just me and my camera. I have a Canon Powershot SX10 IS.

Inspiration

I was trying to capture an early morning sunrise. I didn't expect much to come out of it, but I'm glad I woke up and got out there. This sunrise was full of deep and warm colors.

Editing

I don't know much about post-processing, so this is the raw image. Sometimes I will edit my photos, but I thought the natural beauty of this image was good enough.

In my camera bag

I have my camera, extra batteries, and lots of memory cards! I have a pretty basic set up, and will hopefully have more in store later on. But as of now, I like to keep things basic, and light while traveling.

Feedback

Wake up early and get out there. You never know when a sunrise will be like this, so you pretty much have to wing it. I just go with the flow. If I think something is or will be cool, I grab my camera. Just remember to have fun. Though you might want to take a picture of everything you see, take time to experience the moment.
