Location
This photo was taken in the attic of my parent's old house. Once I've discovered my love with these little things called "cameras", I've found out that my family owned a set of old cameras. Clothes up, car engine started, Queens are playing. I was there in 15 minutes, holding these beauties in my hands and then decided to create this composition.Time
It was made during the night time, as first I've been waiting for my dad to come back from work to ask him all these questions about those old cameras and where I can find them.Lighting
Yes, you can see it here in the photo, but actually the only source of light there was a big kerosene lamp and a small flashlight. No electricity in the old attic.Equipment
That time I didn't own any cameras, so I just had the idea and iPhone 7.Inspiration
That time I was heavily addicted to those times of discoveries, adventures and sailing. When people, driven by thirst for discovery and hunger for knowledge had to spend months on ships, surrounded by nothing more but the ocean. Times of paper maps, kerosene lamps, danger, uncertainty, thirst and bravery. Once I saw all these things in the attic, it just clicked in my head, I knew exaclty what I was composing there, as I had the idea for a similar shot for quite a long time. If I can't live through those moments by myself, I at least can try to recreate them in art.Editing
It wasn't post-processed in any other ways, except of playing with B&W tonesIn my camera bag
I was only using my iPhone 7 for a pretty long period of time, but I'm happy to share the fact, that I'm right now waiting for some Canon gear) It'll be a 70D beast with 50mm f/1.8 and 17-55mm f/2.8 lenses. So soon it's gonna be a totally different conversation )Feedback
Create the IDEA first. Don't just keep it in your head and expect it to "work out" once you arrive to the location to shoot. Write it on a paper of, even better, draw it. So once you are in the place - you know what composition, angle and light you wanna try first, before going deeper and experementing more. Spend some time to prepare the idea before going for a shot, so you don't waste time during the actual process.
