This photo was from a wedding I shot for an old primary school friend. The wedding was in the village where the school was and where I grew up. The bride got on stage with her band and she performed with a saxaphone in her wedding dress for the guests.Time
Late into the evening after the main reception meal. Drinks were flowingLighting
The lighting was set up by the groom events company with the groom leading the design and execution of the whole afternoon to evening reception.Equipment
For this shot I used an A7S Mark 2 with a samyang 14mm T3.1 cine lens using a metabones EF adapter. My other camera was a 5D Mark 4. Other lenses used were Sony 70-200 f4 and Canon 16-35 Mark 3, 100mm L macro f2. 8 and Sigma Art 50mm f1.4Inspiration
I've shot a lot of music videos and live bands before and always got great results using low wide angles close up with drums and framed the shot to have the bride just in view.Editing
I did a very basic grade with contrast and saturation boost but left The A7S 2 sensor to do its magic in low light! In my camera bag
I use various rental kits but always have a trusty 5D with me and my 100mm L macro that always shines over other glass.Feedback
Always look for the shot in your specific scene instead of shootimg widely and hoping you've caught something later... I find it much easier to document the best shots when I'm paying more attention with my eyes than looking through the lens...really see what you're shooting. You have time even though it doesn't seem like it.
