Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the docks of New Baltimore, Michigan overlooking Anchor Bay

Time

I got up out of bed at 4am so i could be out at the docks before the sun came up. I wanted to be there for blue hour. Boy was it blue.

Lighting

No additional lighting was used except the glow of blue hour. I slowed the shutter speed down so i could get the effect of the flat water.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon d850, 50mm lens. f9, iso64, 6 second exposure

Inspiration

I am always looking for a dock to take photos from looking onto a lake. This one isn’t far from my home, so i did it. Also, i had just bought my new camera upgrading from a DX to a Full Frame.

Editing

I had slightly under exposed this photo, so it was brightened up a tad in Lightroom to bring back the shadows. Not that there were a lot to bring back.

In my camera bag

In my bag, i always carry a 14mm, 50mm lens. I don’t really carry too much.

Feedback

Just keep trying to get what you envision.
