Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in the hills not far from my house. My hard drive crashed so I actually don't have the original any more. I had been trying for quite a while to get pictures of dragonflies and managed to get lucky with this one.

Time

This was later in the morning I believe.

Lighting

It was a nice sunny day and I was lucky enough to have him face the right way.

Equipment

I had my old Canon 450D with my 55-250 kit lens on a tripod.

Inspiration

Spur of the moment inspiration. I was having a hard time finding dragonflies and happened to find a spot with a few flying around. They never hung around long enough for me to get a decent shot though. This one showed up and hung around. If I remember correctly he would fly off and come back so I managed to get a few pics.

Editing

I'm not good at post work. This was basically just shadows and highlights in the program that comes with Canon cameras.

In my camera bag

Way too much. It's pretty heavy, especially since I have a new 80D and 100-400L II that I have to lug around. Mainly when I go if it's just around town I'll just take my camera with the 100-400 and my tripod. But the bag has my camera, 100-400, 18-55, 60 macro, flash, chargers, batteries, led panel, filters, and sundry other things that rarely get used. I'm like a camera bag hoarder, lots of stuff I never use but can't leave without.

Feedback

Get out and take pictures. Eventually something will pop up you want a picture of.
