I took this photo in a tiny little park in Littleton Colorado!Time
This was taken around 6:30 pm in the evening.Lighting
This photo is 100% natural light! My model was standing in open shade, facing the sun, which helped create that even, sculpted light on her face.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D and a Canon 135mm F/2.0LInspiration
That is actually the best part about this photo. This was actually the very first shot I took. It was the test shot as I was adjusting my settings, and Hara was looking down at the back of her skirt to dust some dirt off of it. Since I wasn't intending to take an actual shot, my hand wasn't steady and it shook (while locking focus on Hara's face), which is what caused that interesting shape of bokeh in the background. It ended up being my favorite shot of the entire set, and one of my favorite photos of all time!Editing
I do some slight post-processing in Photoshop. I start by doing my RAW adjustments in Camera RAW, and then I take it into Photoshop. I always deepen the contrast in the shadows, make the highlights pop and do some color grading on my greens (using a selective color adjustment layer), and then skin retouching using Frequency Separation, of course. In my camera bag
I keep it pretty simple. I only have my Canon 6D, my 135mm, my 85mm and extra batteries and cards.Feedback
Considering this shot was a total accident, there's not much advice I can give. Always being ready so you don't miss the perfect shot!
