It's my birthday. The sun is shining, so I enjoyed some time with our dogs at the beach. I wasn't planning on taking lots of photos, the light was already pretty hard. So I planned on taking a wide angle action photo. I put down the ball about 1 meter away and let Jindi run full speed towards the ball. It took some runs before getting this shot, but I'm pleased with the result :-) Sure, I had to dive away couple times and needed to clean my camera thoroughly, but we had a great time!

This photo is taken on the beach near Domburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands. The beach is the favorite place of our dogs!Time
This was a special day, my birthday! On November 11th you don't typically think about the beach... but as the sun was shining it was a great day to go to the beach! Also great about going to the beach in almost winter time, light is quite soft during the day, so I could take this picture around lunch time and enjoy a good lunch afterwards!Lighting
Domburg is know for it's beatifull light and has a rich history with famous painters. I think we can conclude the same when looking at this photo which was taken mid-day! Almost always a soft touch to the light in Domburg.Equipment
This photo was taken on a Canon 70D, my camera at that time. I did invest in a new high-quality zoom-lens, the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II USM. It's really a great lens! I wanted to get close to the action, so I took the photo at 24mm. I'm glad the lens is water- and dust proof! Got loads of sand over me :-)Inspiration
Earlier I took a magnificent photo of border collie Jake with the Grinz teeth ball from Rogz. In that photo the ball was thrown and taken with a tele photo lens. I do like the teeth ball, but to get the teeth alligned in mid-air is quite difficult. So I decided to position the ball and get close to the action for this shoot with our own border collie Jindi.Editing
In post processing I just adjusted the white balance, contrast (and with that also highlights and shadows) and softened the background just a little bit (negative clarity for the background). In my camera bag
At this time I carry around my Canon 7D mark II - amazing for sporty dogs when you don't have the budget for the 1D. Also the 24-70 that I just mentioned and also the 70-200mm f/2.8 by Canon. Both great lenses! Those are so sharp, that I leave my 50mm 1.4 at home most of the time. Also my angle viewfinder is always with me! Great to take photos from dog eye level or even lower.Feedback
Don't be affraid to get close and make sure to set the shutter speed high enough. Also always keep the autofocus on continues when you're taking photos of moving dogs. I don't botter to switch to anything else as I occassionaly forgot to switch it back to continues autofocus when switching from portrait to running photo.
