Thanks so much!!! I am so so happy and excited!!! I called this picture 'I believe I can fly!' for some reason the name has not been uploaded!! Anyhow... not a composite, just a small bit of B&W adjustments! Thanks once again!
Behind The Lens
Location
Hi guys, this is a picture of my son on the swing. I can gladly and honestly say that this is not a composite. One side of the swing is fixed to the wooden fens that you can see on the left. I asked him to swing as high as he can so I could lie down on the grass below him and shoot with Sigma 10-20 on crop (to get as wide as possible). This same time I was praying he does not kick the camera as the lens wasn't mine (was testing before the wedding :)Time
It was loverly summer evening, during golden hour. Setting sun created this gorgeous shadow of him. It was around 9PM..Lighting
... gorgeous natural golden hour sun... what else could you expect :)Equipment
I used canon 60D, with ultra-wide angle Sigma 10-20 lens. No flash, just natural light.Inspiration
My son.. he loves this swing.. Hand made by his grandpa..I love watching him swinging as he believes some day will find out machine wings and will be able to fly. This is his time where he seems to be thinking about all the things he learns about life every day... He reminds me Peter Pan... so I wanted the picture to show this as well...Editing
Light room adjustments, basic B&W conversion + shadows/ highlights/ curves adjustments. In my camera bag
full frame camera as well as crop.. I love fixed lenses, 35, 50, 100, 135... not much fan of zoom... however, had to test 10-20 sigma before the wedding I was going to shoot.. and booom! I got this one.. will buy it as is cheap and you can get some nice shots with it :)Feedback
This was the last picture of the entire shoot... To be honest I was planning something different, the plan was to have simple pictures with his grandpa who hand-made the swing.. with nice sky above (closed aperture) sun as the rim light, and and a speedlite in a softbox as the key light.. I was planning to do few more like this at the wedding I was going to, as we have gorgeous sunsets here in Ireland at this time of the year.... so just for family records. you know.. quick click click and done.. so I got what my wife w wanted.. then while browsing through I noticed how sun throws his shadow on the fens.. Run back to the garden.. as I couldn't miss it and there you go :) my advise, keep playing with angles and shadows.. In my opinion any location may have something amazing hidden.. al we have to do is to explore it and capture it :)
