Location
The photo was taken at Shelly Booker Photography's home studio. Shelly was not only the model in the photo but she is also my mentor and teacher. I've studying and working as her assistant on a number of her photo shoots.Time
We took the photo later afternoon indoors. We had been taking photos all day starting outdoors before moving inside when this photo was taken.Lighting
We use three soft boxes and camera flash. Soft boxes where placed left and right of the model and overhead.Equipment
For this shoot I use the Canon Rebel T5, a 18 to 55mm Canon Lens, Mantrotto Tripod, and a Speedlite Flash.Inspiration
As part of my learning process we wanted to give me practice shooting models in different locations and lighting conditions. I was also building my portfolio for stock photography submissions. This shoot also provided Shelly the opportunity to practice her modeling skills.Editing
I did do post processing on the image. I used Photoshop CC and Portrait Pro 15 to do a light touch up her makeup.In my camera bag
I keep an assortment of camera equipment with me at all times. If you view my images on ViewBug you may notice that some of my photos where taken with my IPad and Smartphone. For me, keeping and assortment of camera's with me allows me to be able to take a photo or video in any situation. My carryall includes the following: Canon Rebel T5, Canon XC10, IPad, Smartphone, Canon Lenses: 18 to 55mm, 50mm Prime, 70 to 300mm, Neewer On Camera Light, Speedlight Flash, and the Westcott Icelight 2.Feedback
Take photos everyday in different locations and lighting conditions if possible. This has help me learn what works best in different situations, and has produce some interesting photos for my portfolio. Read and study other photographers work and how they created them.
