Location
This photo image was taken in the spring of 2016 in at the Cabo De San Vincente, the furthest southwest point of Portugal, and the Southern European continent in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, in the Algarve.Time
The moment seen here was early evening after I had previously arrived in Lagos and taken a cab to from my hotel to this location in order to capture the day's sunset there. I took many photos during my time in this location and I always felt that this was the best representation out of all of them.Lighting
No additional lighting was truly required except the sun and it's sinking reflection on the Atlantic Ocean.Equipment
For equipment I used a Canon D5 Mk III camera, a Canon 18-135 mm lens and my Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
The image of a lighthouse is a commonly shared symbol of safe harbor, and the lighthouse shown here is an exemplary historic location that has helped to protect ships passing the nearby fortress of Sagres and the high rocky coast for many centuries.Editing
Regrettably I must admit did do some minor post processing to this image, to improve the overall contrast and highlights and shadows of the but I no longer recall the exact details of the final edits since no additional notes on the procedure currently survive in my possession in 2021 as I write this.In my camera bag
I carry and shoot with Canon full frame DSLRs and lenses.Feedback
Plan ahead and plan accordingly. The best season to capture fantastic images of this location I was told by tourist guides was actually during the winter when the sea can be rough and the waves can sometimes tower over the entire location.
