Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken during a Swiss soccer game in heavy rain. The two other photographers had already left because of the very bad weather... I'm a semi professional sports photographer who's addicted to take pictures. Not only sports but also travel and nature pictures. My dream is to be travelling and taking pictures for international clients... (Hey, National Geographic, did you hear this?) ;-)Time
Despite the weather was turning very bad and the light was disappearing I kept on going to use my camera and was rewarded with this opportunity late afternoon.Lighting
Luckily, I saw during the processing of the photo, that the player was accidentally looking right into my lens. As sports action happens to be very fast, you have to be lucky to get a shot like this. And of course you have to be ready to capture the right moment. Naturally, it's always good to know the optic rules about the correct aperture and speed of your camera ... ;-)Equipment
I'm using Nikon professional equipment: A Nikon D4s body, a Nikkor AFS-2,8/300mm lens to capture the moments. In sports photography you always try to use available light, never a flash.Inspiration
Since more than 20 years I'm taking sports and other pictures. People often like my shots but this shot is very special to me because I like the expression in the goalkeepers face, his look of the eyes.Editing
Post processing often consists in minimal cropping and adjusting of the contrast. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D4s, a Nikon D750 as backup body. My lenses are the above mentioned AFS-Nikkor 2.8/300mm, Afs-Nikkor 2.8/70-200mm, AFS Nikkor 2.8 24-70mm and a AFS Nikkor 2.8 14-24mm. In good light conditions I also use a Tamron 150-600mm lens which is ways better than the low price would assume...Feedback
It's not really my attitude to give advice to others. Not because I'm very selfish but I think it's better to just go out there and make it happen by yourself. Don't be scared of "bad" weather. Keep on going whatever others say or whatever the weather is... ;-)
