Location
The photo was taken in the late summer while I was on one of my trips to Sacramento Valley in California. I'm a self-taught photographer, so every shot is pretty much a new lesson for me. Early on, as a reporter and documentary filmmaker, I enjoyed photography and seemed to be able to make well-composed images. The next transition seemed fitting that I’d try to record these feelings about nature in a photograph.Time
This is probably one of my favorite images. I remember I was walking in the evening to the Sacramento River to enjoy the sunset and when I passed a barley field the wind started to dance with the plants.Lighting
I wanted this image to catch that magic moment of the day when you can play with the golden light and you can draw the viewer into a scene in a story. There was something so beautiful about that place. It was like the time stopped and I feel the soul of the earth, wind, and nature.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3200, with a 55-200mm f/4 lens. I didn't use any other equipment.Inspiration
In California, there are so many barley fields, and in the summer it's fascinating to watch the wind moving over the shimmering surface, like waves on an ocean of gold.Editing
In this case, I used Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic/CC. Color often plays a big role in a photograph — and in post-processing. The basic adjustments are vibrance and saturation, while adjusting individual colors offers more control. In my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon camera and two sets of my lens Zoom- NIKKOR 18-55 MM and 55-200MM.Feedback
My passion for photography began with a love of the outdoors. Being surrounded by nature always feels intensely calming and meaningful. My photographs became as much about my personal journey as they were about capturing the beauty that surrounded me. Along the way, I developed a deep passion for landscape photography. Unlike many people who don’t like to say their work defines them…. my photography defines me in so many ways therefore- it allows me to show who I am as a reflection of the world around me.
