Location
This was taken in beautiful Wales nr Devils BridgeTime
This was taken about 1 hour before sunsetLighting
This was all about the light and and waiting to see what happenedEquipment
Camera niton d610 24-105mm nikkor lens shot at 24mm Lee big stopper ND filter, tripod and shutter release.Inspiration
Having spent 24 hours in Wales I had walked to the top of the hill with my son without the camera and decided that it would have been a great place to watch the sun set. So after waiting a couple of hours I trudged back up the hill with all my kit and sat down rather miffed as I couldn't see the sun for all the clouds.... but I stayed and waited as it was a long walk. So sat there the clouds started to part and I was rewarded with this shot. With the ND filter I was able to keep the shutter open much longer and able to get the movement in the clouds and also while I was sat there with my finger on the shutter I was watching where the sun trails were appearing on the fields. It was not until I got home and the images onto the computer that I could actually see what I had actually managed to take it was a long 10 days before I managed to get them uploaded but it was worth the wait.Editing
This was a single raw image so I had a vast amount of data to work with, started with the usual saturation contrast etc... and after that there wasn't much more than that that needed doing. In my camera bag
Nikon d610, d5100 several lenses and tubes. Tripods, LEE big Stopper ND filter.Feedback
Main thing with this one was right time right place if I had not stayed and just thought sod it it's not worth waiting because of the cloud I wouldn't have got anything. Sometimes it pays just to sit back and watch the world go by.... you never know what could happen.
