Location
This photo was taken on a croft in Shetland during feeding time. The ewe is one of the most eager and normally follows you around until she gets her grub! At the time of shooting she was waiting patiently while i filled the eating troughs.Time
This was taken during a cold morning - a low sun.Lighting
During winter time the sun is never very high, and the low light level is making her coat look rough and thick, giving a natural border to the expression on the face as she waits to be fed.Equipment
Hand held Canon 5d, 16-35mm lens.Inspiration
I just thought the ewe was looking interesting. Her coat is looking worn, un-tidy, and jaded from being over wintered. The expression looks fed-up, as she waits to be fed.Editing
I made the picture into black and white, and enhanced the contrast and clarity, the eye of the ewe was sharpened to draw attention to it.In my camera bag
Normally i try to keep as light as possible, if i can get away with it i will take only my camera.Feedback
Keep light, and have camera ready to shoot prior to being near the animals, as they can be moving around and you can miss your chance of a shot very quickly if your not ready.
