This photo was taken viewing East of Route 58 in Freeman, Virginia, USA while I’m travelling to my work towards West and saw a big ball of soft sun from my rear mirror.Time
This is probably one of my favorite scenes radiating all its rays filling the sky with unique reddish and orange colors. It was early morning of February 27, 2015 a day after a heavy snowstorm. It was a chance of a lifetime and can’t resist bypassing and ignoring again and that forced me for quick U-turn exactly facing the East where the sun rises and stopped in the middle of the road and took pictures.Lighting
I want to image exactly what I am seeing the moving vehicles, the snow, radio tower, the trees along the roadway and the real picture of this country road without overpowering the main element, the rising sun. The lighting plays a big role to capture this moment trying and adjusting to near perfect lens opening for the natural light. I used f/16 with exposure time of 1/100 sec in an ISO 200.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D90, with an 18 to 150 mm f/3.6 Tamron lens. No filters and other equipment involved. My elevation of sight probably 5' to 6’ seating on my pickup truck and extending myself outside the window.Inspiration
The country atmosphere, rural folks and the beautiful sun to start a new day inspired me to take the photo.Editing
I did a little post-processing to correct the white balance in a fine JPEG file.In my camera bag
I would advise people to always have their camera ready anytime so they can capture the perfect and unusual moment. I always bring my Nikon D90 wherever I go.Feedback
In any season, conditions changes abruptly the landscape, temperature, lighting and others affects the surroundings. What surprises me when I saw something would be my perfect moment to stop and capture. I would advise people to always have their camera ready anytime so they can capture an “Award Winning” shot in their own point of view.
