You gotta be kidding me. What an AWESOME SCARY CAPTURE. Poor turtle. I hope this isn't near your home. I hear they at times find themselves in Peoples backyard. He is Huge! Good job on the clarity. I would have been shaking too much to get a clear shot. Really Cool! An award shot! Lol. I just notice how white his teeth are. If I could I would give you several recognitions for this one.

Thanks so much Susan. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the capture. Yes, it's near my home. Most of the time when they see us coming to close they jump back into the water. The only time you need to be very careful is during mating season. We have great security where I live, so if we think one is acting to aggressively we call security & they call a trapper to come & remove them. Thanks again. Sandy

Love this, absolutely amazing. One of my favorite places to be is in the swamp watching the gators.

Thanks so much. This wasn't taken in a swamp however. I live in a community that was once an alligator farm. There are ponds that are connected to canals that allow these guys to come from the swamps to us. They are free to move around as they please. This was taken as I was playing a round of golf. We have a local rule that is, that we get a free drop if our golf balls get to close. LOL.Sandy

Location
This photo was taken in my community which has many ponds, lots of water birds & at one time was an alligator farm. I was playing a round of golf, and the alligator had just come out of the water with the turtle in it's mouth as we came to the tee in our golf carts. I grabbed my camera which I always have with me, & I got down low & as close as I dared & took the picture.Time
The photo was taken at 11:18 amLighting
It was a fairly overcast day & since the alligator was on the ground I didn't include any sky & the light was very flat without shadows or highlights.Equipment
I used my Fuji FinePix HS50 EXR, which is a bridge camera with a zoom lens 24mm-1000mm. I hand held the camera & shot at f5.6, at TV1/1000/sec., ISO 400, FL 130mmInspiration
Most of the time when I see an alligator out of the water they are sleeping in the sun. This time I had to capture the moment.Editing
Nothing really. RAW processing & some cropping. In my camera bag
When I'm out in the neighborhood, I carry just my Fuji. I don't need anything else.Feedback
Just be alert for an opportunity to capture the action & of course have your camera ready to shoot.
