I took this photo in rural Clay County, MS near my hometown of West Point.Time

The sun moves from one side to the other of the road that this tree sits next to. In the early Fall as the sun moves behind the tree, it sits in a perfect place to capture beautiful sunsets featuring the leaning tree.Equipment
Sony NEX-3 with a 19mm/f2.8 Sigma Lens and a cheap tripod I ordered online.Inspiration
This tree sits right off of a two lane highway that connects West Point to Columbus. I have ridden that highway a thousand times in my life and ever since I can remember, this tree has always caught my attention and I always thought that it would make a great photograph. When I finally go deep into photography a couple of years ago I began shooting some photos of this tree with this photo being, by far, my favorite so far.Editing
This is an HDR image composed of 3 exposures. I merged the images together in Photomatix Pro and did color editing in LightRoom and did the finishing touches/cleanup in Photoshop. There was no artificial coloring in this one. This photograph really captures the actual scene as I saw it in person.In my camera bag
Currently I shoot exclusively with a Sony A6000 mirrorless camera and mostly use my 19mm/f2.8 Sigma Lens for landscapes and a Sony 50mm/f1.8 for portraits and other types of photography. For HDR shots I almost always shoot with a cheap little tripod I ordered online.Feedback
First of all, take your camera everywhere you go. I find that I often get my best shots when I am out and about for other purposes besides photography. You never know what you might see at any given moment, so it is great to have your camera with you for those moments or scenes that appear out of the blue, and unfortunately you can set up a perfect sunset or the perfect conditions for photos like these. They just happen. In fact, I stopped and took this photo while on my way to have Thanksgiving dinner with family. Also, take tons of photos. There is no extra cost in taking digital photos, so keep shooting and then figure out which shot was best later. Use digital photography to your advantage in that way.
