Location
The photo was taken in Norway, Lofoten Islands - Utakleiv Beach. I was there in a photo trip with a bunch of friends.Time
It was late in the night...if I remember well somewhere at midnight. We stayed on that beach couple of hours in the cold night...maybe we would have luck and catch this beauty....and eventually "she" arrived. :)Lighting
I didn't use any special lightning...as this is a night/sky/landscape photo. I can tell you what setting I used instead. I kept the ISO at 600, f/2.8 and a proper long exposure time.Equipment
I used an Nikon D800, 24-70 Nikkor lens and of course a tripod Vanguard.Inspiration
To be frankly all Norway is a true inspiration for photographers and especially Lofoten Island. But for this particular photo I can say that what inspired me most was the ice cold silence that surrounded me...that blue sky and its stars touched my heart.Editing
Yes. I recovered some of the shadows, I tried to bring out more that beautiful Northern Lights color. Also some cropping. For this wonder of nature you don't need so many editing. In my camera bag
Normally I have my D800, 3 Nikkor lenses: 14-24,24-70 and 70-200, some filters, my tripod, a lot of memory cards and spare batteries .Feedback
Of course. You should book a ticket to Lofoten Islands of course. :) Seriously, you should go out more, admire the nature by foot. Don't be afraid of cold, darkness or unknown. We have to leave our boundaries and pursuit our passion.
