Behind The Lens
Location
This was shot at the famous Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu, India.Time
It was around 5pm & the sun was beginning to set. We stopped our car on seeing these beauties trying to cross the road. It was lonely & extremely quiet, except for the cicadas that were screeching all around us. Classic evening tropical forest setting.Lighting
We were in a drive through the jungle in the peak of summer. Everything was bone dry brownish. The sambar deer (Rusa Unicolor) matched the colors of the surroundings - the dead/dying grass & the barren trees. It was indeed haunting light. A good time & light to get lost in a dark forest just like some horror movie.Equipment
Canon 1100D, Canon 18-55mm IS2 lens, no filter/polarizer. Handheld. Peeping out of the car window!Inspiration
I am highly interested in nature photography. I love being outdoors, camping, hiking and photographing animals & birds all around us, especially in deep forests. Have learnt that most animals are not afraid of humans, they just are shy & try to avoid us. Almost always, when the human is placid, the animal will run & hide & look back. It wont just run away. Applies to deer, mongoose, squirrels, cats and even birds.Editing
Very minimal. Reduced brightness & increased contrast a bit.In my camera bag
Canon 1100D, Canon 18-55 & 55-250 that i bought with the body. UV filter & Circular polarizer. Sigma 150-500mm DG OS lens when I go birding.Feedback
Be quiet & be with people who are quiet. Look out for movement in the jungle/canopy/leaves to spot wildlife. Dont look for objects, look for the movement & u will spot the wildlife before they spot u. Of course, u have to stay quiet & walk very quiet!
