This is an old, handheld macro of a jumping spider I used to take care of named Fluffy. I would take her out to exercise every other day and whenever I put my hand on the ground, even over a foot away, she would always hop over me and and jump onto my hand. That usually meant she was ready to retire to her habitat.
On the day of this photo, it was really hot, so I made a cave with my fingers, which she stayed in for about 30 minutes. Then, she came out onto the "porch" (my thumb... haha) to hang out for a bit, before going back into the cave. Her total length was approximately 5mm.
Fuji S7000, f8, ISO 200. Handheld and stack lenses were used for this shot :)

Thank you, Jazzymae! :D Her name actually used to be Plumpy (before I knew she was pregnant) and all the while, my mom thought I'd been saying Fluffy. When she found out, she said,"Plumpy is mean to call a pregnant spider! Call her Fluffy! It's nicer." Pregnant? She said,"Can't you tell" o.O So, that is how she got her new name! :D

Aww, thanks, Bazz :) Jumping spiders are the only spiders I'll let on me and Fluffy was among the first. She never bit me :)

I've read about people saying they've been bitten, but it seems rare. I handled Fluffy a lot and she never bit me nor made aggressive movements towards me. Actually, none of the jumping spiders I've handled have been aggressive towards me... maybe I'm just lucky :)

Thank you, Marjoriesmithphotography! :) She was soo cute and I learned a lot. She used to have this peekaboo game that I thought was just her being cautious. But, right after her ducking away, if I put my hand out, she would come over and hop on. So, I am prone to thinking it was a game to her, since she wasn't afraid of me :)

Thank you, JoseFSandoval! :) I was very fortunate because she adopted me! Haha! She never tried to get away and if I put my hand on the ground even over a foot away, she would bounce over to it and hop on and then look at me like- Okay, habitat time. She'd let me take heaps of pics of her; she was really something :) I've never seen a smiley face spider in person, but they look cool! Thanks again! :)

Hehe! She was great!! She even let me pet her with the back of my finger. Whenever I did, she never ran either; I'm guessing she trusted I wasn't going to harm her, even by accident. It got to the point where if I held my finger in the petting position, she would go under the finger to be petted :)

Thank you, littlemphoto! I totally agree! I like when they angle downwards, as if the are pondering... soo cute when they do that! :D I have many stories about Fluffy, too! :)
