Behind The Lens
Location
In my kitchen with a black cloth for a backdrop.Time
It was mid afternoon with the bulk of the lighting coming from a window to the side.Lighting
I started off just using the side iight from the window then decided to add some diffusd fill flash.Equipment
Nikon Coolpix L120 with the camera flash diffused.Inspiration
I have a picture of Marilyn Monroe on my wall and since I had just purchased the camera, I wanted to try it out. So she had the coat and hat there and we just started taking pictures using different lighting cmobinations.Editing
I ran it through Pixlr for fun and after tweaking the colors where wanted, I converted it to B&W.In my camera bag
Usually, I just carry a Pentax K2000, with the kit lens, a medium zoom and an old manual F2.0 Pentax. Along with a Viviitar 283D, extra batteries, etc. But it depends on my mood, I have a collection of old film cameras so I may switch it all out for an old Mamiya M645 and it's accessories.Feedback
Everybody's style is different, but I do find that when I have a specific image in mind, planning ahead is best and even taking test shots to get the lighting right. A lucky shot is fine, but if you want your work to be consistently appreciated, you need to understand exactly how it happened.
