Behind The Lens

Location

I made this photo at Elephant Rocks State Park.

Time

It was made late morning.

Lighting

I side lit this photo with 400 light seconds to allow me to isolate Jessica while being back lit by the sun.

Equipment

I took this photo with a Nikon D600 and a impact battery powered strobe.

Inspiration

The inspiration for this photo was Jessica's clothing blending with the natural scene, I added the tule to convey motion.

Editing

All post was done in light room, I tend to drag sliders left and right until I see what I envisioned when I made the photo.

In my camera bag

I tend to try to only bring one body and a couple of lenses when I go out to shoot. My mood for the day tends to decide If I will be shooting long or wide. I would rather spend time working on composition instead of what gear I should be using.

Feedback

Just go out and make your own art. If you want to capture something similar, put the sun behind the subject and add light until it looks right to you.
